CITY OF LEXINGTON
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

APPLICATIONS BY THE CITY OF LEXINGTON REQUESTING THAT: A) THE ZONING MAP BE AMENDED TO REZONE THE CITY OWNED PARCELS ASSOCIATED WITH EVERGREEN AND OAK GROVE CEMETERIES, AND B) CONDITIONAL USE PERMITS BE ISSUED TO ALLOW CEMETERY USE ON ALL LAND ASSOCIATED WITH EVERGREEN AND OAK GROVE CEMETERIES.


A public hearing will be conducted by the Lexington Planning Commission at a meeting to begin at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 24, 2024, in the first floor meeting room of the Rockbridge County Administrative Offices, 150 South Main Street,to allow persons to present their views in response to applications by the City of Lexington requesting the following:

A) That the Zoning Map be amended to rezone: 1) that 1.855 acre portion of Evergreen Cemetery (TM #25-1-9)purchased by the City in January 2023 and currently zoned R-1; and 2) that 0.445 acre portion of Oak Grove Cemetery (TM #23-1-160)immediately adjacent to the rear property lines of 14 Houston Street and 16 Houston Street and currently zoned R-1. The request is to rezone both properties to the P-OS (Parks and Open Space District) zoning district; and

B) That Conditional Use Permits be issued to allow Cemetery use on all land associated with Evergreen Cemetery (TM #25-1-9) and Oak Grove Cemetery (TM #23-1-160).

A copy of the applications, case numbers RZ 2024-01, RZ 2024-02, CUP 2024-06 and CUP 2024-07 are available for public review and examination between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. in the Planning and Development Department located on the second floor of Lexington City Hall, 300 East Washington Street.
