NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSIDER ADOPTION OF AN ORDINANCE
AND NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGNotice is hereby given that the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors intends to consider the adoption of an ordinance and will hold a public hearing on said ordinance at its meeting on Monday, November 9, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the Board Meeting Room on the 1st floor of the Rockbridge County Administrative Offices, 150 South Main Street, Lexington, VA, 24450, to consider the following:
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REENACT SECTIONS 14-1, 14-2, 14-3, 14-4, 14-5, 14-6, 14-7, 14-12, 14-13, 14-19, 14-21, 14-34 AND 14-37 OF THE ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY CODE (FIRE, RESCUE, EMS AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT) TO CONFORM THE NAMES OF THE COUNTY’S VOLUNTEER FIRE-RESCUE AGENCIES TO THEIR REGISTERED NAMES, TO CONFIRM THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE FIRE-RESCUE DEPARTMENT AS THE COUNTY’S FIRE DEPARTMENT AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES AGENCY, TO EXCEPT AGENCIES RESPONDING UNDER MUTUAL AID OR AUTOMATIC AID AND AIR AMBULANCES FROM THE COUNTY AMBULANCE PERMIT REQUIREMENT, AND TO MAKE RELATED CLARIFICATIONS AND CORRECTIONSAll interested citizens are invited to attend the public hearing to express their views on the proposed ordinance. While the Board meeting will be open to the public, citizens will have several options for remotely participating in the public hearing by following the instructions on the meeting agenda to be posted on the County’s agenda portal at: https://rockbridge-va.community.diligentoneplatform.com/portal/. Citizens may also submit comment in writing by U.S. Mail to Board of Supervisors, Citizen Comment, 150 South Main Street, Lexington, VA; or by email to
