CITY OF BUENA VISTA AWARDED FEDERAL FUNDS UNDER THE
EMERGENCY FOOD AND SHELTER NATIONAL BOARD PROGRAM
The City of Buena Vista has been allocated $3,970.00 in State Set-Aside Funds under Phase 41 of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the city. A local board will determine how the funds will be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies in the area.
Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local agencies chosen to receive funds must: (1) be private voluntary non-profits or units of government, (2) be eligible to receive federal funds, (3) have an accounting system, (4) practice non-discrimination, (5) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and (6) if they are a private voluntary organization, they must have a voluntary board. Qualifying agencies are urged to apply.
Public or private voluntary agencies interested in applying for the funds should contact Chris Coleman, Clerk of Buena Vista Circuit Court, at 2039 Sycamore Avenue, Buena Vista, by phone at 540-261-8627, or by email at [email protected] for an application. The deadline for applications to be received is May 1, 2024 at 4:30 p.m.

Pursuant to Sections 15.2-2100 et seq., of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, the Lexington City Council will hold a public hearing on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the First Floor Meeting Room of the Rockbridge County Administrative Offices, which is located at 150 South Main Street in the City of Lexington. The purpose for the public hearing is to receive public comment concerning the request by Brightspeed of Virginia, LLC, to be granted a fifteen (15) year, non-exclusive franchise to use and occupy the Citys streets, alleys, and public rights-of-way for the purpose of constructing, operating, maintaining, and repairing a telecommunications system. Any person desiring to be heard in favor of, in opposition to, or to express his or her views with respect to, the proposed franchise may appear before, and be heard by, City Council during the Public Hearing. At the conclusion of the public hearing, the City Council will vote to either approve or deny the proposed franchise.
In addition, the City shall receive and open sealed, written bids for the proposed telecommunications system franchise from other providers. Interested providers must submit sealed bids in writing by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024, to the City Clerk at 300 E. Washington Street, Lexington, VA 24450. Any received bids will be opened in public session and marked for identification by the City Clerk. The cost of this advertisement must be reimbursed to the City by any provider to which a franchise is granted. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
